SpangHangar Logo

Hi

Yesterday was a perfect day…..probably because the sun shone all day.  In this northern, cloudy climate, a day of sunshine can make all the difference in one’s attitude and area.  Our back lawn that started the day with closed buds on the bushes and trees was a mass of color by the end of the day.  In a matter of a few hours everything looked new and beautiful.  It caused us to think about some other things that are new here at the Hangar.

New windows

One of our winter projects was to replace the windows in three of our bedrooms.  German windows are masterpieces of well-engineered construction.  These are triple pane and can open at the top  for air flow or at the side for easy cleaning.  We no longer see daylight at the bottom of the doors and we are convinced that these will make a difference in our heating bills.

New doors

After reclaiming a part of our barn for a new two car garage, it has taken most of the winter to order and finally install the new garage doors.  This is a luxury here in Germany and we love the new place for our car and ministry van.

New babies

We have had 5 babies born to the families that come to the Hangar since mid December.  With 2 more families expecting, we have our own population explosion happening.

New recognition

Spangdahlem recently received the “Best Chapel in the Air Force for 2009” Award.  Here is Roger with 4 of the Protestant chaplains with whom we work closely.

New phase

Military families are in constant transition.  Many of them change locations every two years and often the husband is deployed for 6-9 months during that time.  We recently had several of our airmen return from Iraq.

New construction

Since we live in a 50 year old house, there are always  improvements to be made.  Here is the demolition stage of removing the old tub from a bathroom and replacing it with a step in shower.

New look

In an attempt to keep up with the younger crowd, we have adjusted our style.  What do you think??

Something that is not new is our continued joy in what we are doing.  Between us we are leading 5 Bible studies and have our weekly  Wednesday gatherings and weekend outings.  You are always welcome to come and see for yourselves what is NEW here at Spangdahlem.

With much love,  Roger and Sheila

New life

Roger had the privilege of baptizing one of our airmen in the Jordan River on a recent trip to Israel.  In addition, here is Roger with Tom, an airman who recently accepted Christ at the men’s Tuesday night Bible study.
